[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Alba Sánchez Montalvo, born in 1996 in Atarfe, Spain, has been selected for an outstanding project of the Mars society. This project seeks to replicate life conditions on Mars in a simulated environment located in the Utah desert, United States. Sánchez Montalvo, who is currently completing his doctorate at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, has trained in various educational institutions, starting at the CEIP Doctor Jiménez Rueda and continuing at the IES Vega de Atarfe. Subsequently, he completed his degree in Biotechnology and a master's degree in Research and Advances in Molecular and Cellular Immunology at the University of Granada.
The mission, in which Sánchez Montalvo will participate from March 31 to April 14, will take place in a complex in Utah designed to simulate the life of astronauts on a station on Mars. On this mission, in addition to his investigative work, Sánchez Montalvo will play a key role as a chronicler for the Atlas team, documenting the team's experience through words and images. This task aligns well with his training in Biotechnology, his master's degree in Immunology, and his current doctoral study in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Additionally, her experience as a science communicator ideally qualifies her for this role. Within her experiment at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS), she will focus on evaluating the immune system function of crew members before, during and after the mission.
The project MARS UCLouvain, part of this initiative, faces significant costs and is actively seeking sponsors, as communicated through its social networks.
Sánchez Montalvo also stands out in her role as a science communicator, maintaining a social media account under the name @immunominuto en Instagram, Threads, y TikTok , where he shares information about different aspects of his work. Prior to his current position in Leuven, he gained practical experience at the López Neyra of CSIC and at the Hospital Virgen de las Nieves [/vc_column_text] [/vc_column] [/vc_row] [vc_row] [vc_column] [vc_column_text]
