The president of the Andalusian PP, Juanma Moreno, has today demanded that the Junta de Andalucía settle as soon as possible "its historical debt with the highways of the Malaga region of the Axarquía”, in such a way that it turns this issue into a priority, as the PP has done by turning this petition into one of its lines of action in the Andalusian Parliament.
"It is time for the Andalusian Government to treat the Axarquía as it deserves and guarantee that it has excellent road connections, essential for the development of the eastern Málaga municipalities and the province as a whole", he explained. the popular leader during a meeting in Alfarnate with mayors, spokesperson and popular councilors of this region.
In this sense, Moreno has specified that the first commitment that the Board must acquire "immediately" is the completion of the so-called Carretera del Arco, a road connection between Marbella and Vélez-Málaga through the A-356 “and that it is a project committed by the Andalusian Government twenty-five years ago”.
The president of the popular Andalusians considers that this connection "is called to be a backbone for the regions of Axarquía, Guadalhorce and the Costa del Sol", something that "is not a reality today due to the little interest of the Junta to conclude the stretch between Casabermeja and the recent Casapalma bypass”.
"The Andalusian PP is not going to give up its efforts to make the Carretera del Arco a reality as soon as possible, since we are not only talking about a boost to road infrastructure in the region, but also a necessary support for the thriving sector agri-food that is developed here", stressed the popular leader.
In fact, Moreno recalled that, year after year, the PP presents an amendment to the Andalusian budget so that the pending section of the arc road; "And this year, as always, both PSOE and Ciudadanos have voted no to an investment of 200.000 euros for this project."
Likewise, the Andalusian leader recalled that the promotion of road connections in the Axarquía does not only pass through the Carretera del Arco, "but also through the widening and repair of the A-7204, which links Alcaucín with Periana, Riogordo and Colmenar". .
"There are many years of inaction, of zero budgetary commitment that has been generating a historic debt with the Axarquía that, once and for all, the Andalusian Government must settle", stressed Moreno, who regretted that roads such as the A-7204 "They are among the most deteriorated in the province, despite being a fundamental connection for the agri-food sector."
"The Andalusian PP has already included this matter in its parliamentary agenda and we are going to guarantee that the regional government gives the Axarquía the importance it deserves", concluded Moreno.
