Andalusia has registered in January the creation of 1.864 new companies, which represents a 15,3% increase compared to the previous month, according to data published Tuesday by the National Statistics Institute (INE). However, compared to the same month in 2,4, the number of companies established in the region experienced a 2024% decrease.
This trend is in line with the national trend, where the creation of commercial companies in Spain reached a total of 10.677 new companies in January, 13,1% more than in December 2024, but 0,4% lower than the figure recorded in the same month of the previous year.
On the other hand, The number of companies dissolved across the country also increased in the first month of the year.o. In total, 3.907 companies were dissolved, representing a 20,5% increase over the previous month, although a 0,8% decrease compared to January 2024. Of the total number of dissolutions recorded, nearly nine out of ten were carried out voluntarily.
New businesses, more jobs for all
Regarding subscribed capital for newly formed companies, the figure reached €505 million, representing a 15,7% drop compared to the previous month and a 44,6% year-on-year decrease. The average subscribed capital stood at €47.326, 25,5% less than in December 2024 and 44,4% lower than in January of last year.
Regarding capital increases, the number of operations nationwide reached 3.661, representing a 43,1% increase compared to December and a 0,7% increase year-on-year. The average capital contributed in each increase was €815.711.
By sectors of activity, 18,5% of the companies created in January in Spain were in the real estate, finance, and insurance sectors; 17,1% were in commerce; and 14,4% were in the construction sector.As for the dissolved companies, 20,5% were concentrated in commerce, 16% in construction, and 13,6% in real estate, finance, and insurance.
At regional areaThe largest year-on-year increases in the creation of commercial companies were recorded in Cantabria, with a 43,1% increase; the Canary Islands, with 26,5%; and Aragon, with 9,4%. On the other hand, the Balearic Islands led the declines with a 24,1% drop, followed by Murcia, with 16,9%, and La Rioja, with a 13,9% drop.
The January balance sheet confirms the strength of the Andalusian business fabric In terms of business creation, despite the slight year-on-year decline, this highlights the dynamism of key sectors such as trade, construction, and financial activities at the regional and national levels.
The Andalusian Regional Government welcomes the entrepreneurial drive reflected in these figures, considering it an indicator of the region's economic attractiveness.
