Andalusia already has the first Flamenco Law in regional history

flamenco lawAndalusia (PP) — Andalusia has since this month of April the first Flamenco Law in its history. A regulation promoted by the Government of the PP led by Juanma Moreno that has had the involvement of the entire sector, from artists to associations, foundations and clubs, and that will allow this artistic activity to be given its own legal regime that guarantee its protection and conservation, as well as its dissemination and promotion as intangible cultural heritage of Andalusia.

The law has entered into force coinciding with the April Fair in Seville, and from the PP of Andalusia they have assessed that This is the first time that an autonomous community legislates around such a specific cultural matter, "so it will ensure its transmission to future generations", underlined the deputy secretary of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Popular Party of Andalusia, Pilar Pintor. 

As he recalled, it was an initiative long demanded by the sector, especially as a result of its recognition by Unesco as Intangible Heritage of Humanity. However, it was not until the arrival of the PP to the Junta de Andalucía when this project was seriously resumed to be approved throughout the first session of the legislature.

Thus, the new law certifies the commitment of the Andalusian Government of Juanma Moreno with the culture, heritage and hallmarks of the community, recognized even in the Statute of Autonomy. 

What does the Law of Flamenco consist of?

The regulations consist of 36 articles in which flamenco is protected as a living, free and universal heritage. Among other innovations, the entry of this art into educational classrooms stands out to bring it closer and make it known among the youngest. Thus, he poses his inclusion in the non-university education curriculum through activities related to the world of flamenco and the implementation of a teacher training plan to contribute to its dissemination. In higher education, the creation of flamenco chairs in Andalusian universities will be promoted.

The vice secretary of Culture of the regional PP has also emphasized that the law of flamenco pick up the creation of an Andalusian Registry of Flamenco that will serve as a tool for advertising, organization and knowledge of all professionals and entities that develop activities related to flamenco in our land. 

In the same way, it is foreseen that all movable and immovable property, activities and other elements of intangible heritage, including individual and collective flamenco creations that make up the flamenco heritage complex, can be registered in the General Catalog of Andalusian Historical Heritage, a way of making it easier for them to fit into the different lines of aid or protection that are put in place.

Finally, Pintor has stressed that one of the objectives of this standard is the promotion and support for associations, in such a way that the law includes a specific mention of clubs and non-profit entities whose aims are the dissemination and knowledge of flamenco.
