Huelva is taking a step forward in healthcare research with the creation of a Clinical Research Unit at the Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital, thanks to a €3,6 million investment from the Carlos III Health Institute. This new facility will improve access to clinical trials and innovative treatments, strengthening the province's research capacity. The initiative includes digitalization, advanced technology, and specialized training, positioning Huelva within the national clinical research network and benefiting both patients and the scientific community.

The province of Huelva will take a step forward in the field of health research with the creation of a Clinical Research Unit, thanks to a investment of 3,6 million euros granted by the Carlos III Health Institute to the Andalusian Beturia Foundation for Health Research (FABIS). This new infrastructure will be located in the Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital and will allow for improved equitable access to clinical trials and innovative treatments.

A key boost for health research in Huelva

The implementation of this unit It will represent an important advance for the development of clinical research in the province, providing Huelva with a first-class infrastructure. Thanks to this investment, clinical trials can be conducted more efficiently, which will benefit both patients and the scientific community.

The project was presented by the territorial health delegate, Manuela Caro; the managing director of the Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital, Manuel García de la Vega; the director of FABIS, María Victoria Alonso; and the head of the hospital's cardiology department, Antonio Gómez Menchero, who is also the principal investigator for this initiative.

Currently, work is being done on the final architectural design of the unit, It will have two main areas, each with independent but interconnected access: one for patient care and the other for administrative use. This layout will optimize the center's operations and ensure maximum efficiency in the execution of clinical trials.

Integration into the national clinical research network

The creation of this Clinical Unit in Huelvaopens the door to its integration into the ISCIII Clinical Research Support Platform, SCReN (Spanish Clinical Research Network)This national collaborative network supports independent clinical and academic research, facilitating cooperation between different research centers in Spain.
