The number 2 candidate of the Popular Party, Carmen Crespo, has outlined the training policies in agriculture in the face of the elections to the European Parliament next Sunday, June 9, at a meeting at the headquarters of the Agro-Food Cooperatives of Granada.

For Carmen Crespo, the cooperatives of Andalusia and Granada are fundamental for the economic and social development of our land, "given that They constitute 20% of the sector in Spain, are committed to innovation and are a hub for generating employment and wealth.".

The candidate has highlighted the importance of European policy in everything that affects agriculture. In this sense, Crespo has announced that the PP is going to introduce mirror clauses and he will defend them as “a factor for eliminating the disadvantage with third countries that affects our farmers every day.”

“The PP's roadmap includes continuing to support a strong rural policy and advocating for a solid rural European Pact, with economic resources that are independent of the CAP.”

Europe is also vital to execute infrastructures vital for Granada such as breakdown 3 of the Rules, the use of regenerated water or the development of water infrastructure such as those being developed by the Government of Juanma Moreno,” he noted. “European policy has to have a comprehensive Water section for Southern Europe that is being affected by drought.”

In this regard, Carmen Crespo has stressed that the Popular Party has among its commitments to promote the European Water Pact and that drought is a determining factor in accessing European funds.

For his part, the president of the Popular Party of Granada, Francis Rodríguez, has pointed out how “a lot we have at stake in Europe” on the next 9J for the defense of rural areas, our countryside, agriculture and the importance of water; Therefore, he highlighted that precisely this meeting with the Agro Alimentaria Cooperatives of the province is the first event held together with the number 2 candidate for the European Parliament, Carmen Crespo, "since we are facing a pillar of our economy and our future that "it cannot allow itself any more grievances and damages from the Government of Spain."

Among others, he highlighted the strength and weight of cooperatives and the primary sector in the province, which contribute 7% of the GDP of the Granada economy and generate more than 45 thousand indirect and 9 thousand indirect jobs.

Rodríguez has contrasted the two models: “that of a PSOE with Sánchez that does not believe in the strength of our field, and the model of the PP, of Núñez Feijóo, of Juanma Moreno and the one that has demonstrated in these years with commitment, determination and a lot of work from our colleague Carmen Crespo.”

"In Europe we need a voice like that of our candidate, knowledgeable about the reality of our agriculture, the needs of Granada and Andalusia, far from sectarianism and close to the needs and reality of the sector."

The mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, highlighted that "today we held the first meeting with professionals in Granada in the race for the European Elections on June 9, with the presence of the number two on the Andalusian list Carmen Crespo", a meeting with Agri-Food Cooperatives of Granada, from where “we address our commitment to agriculture to help the growth of Europe as a whole from Granada and Andalusia.”

In line, he added that "no one better than the Minister of Agriculture to represent Granada and Andalusian farmers in the European Parliament and apply the policies that our president Juanma Moreno has developed with such success in the Junta de Andalucía in this matter."

Carazo has stressed that “Granada's participation in Europe and vice versa is essential, with a commitment to growth and investment policies with European funds that we have promoted this year at the head of the Granada City Council, where we have executed 100% of "the projects financed with the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy Funds (EDUSI) 2014-2020, with an investment of almost 19 million euros."

The popular has stressed that "thanks to these European funds, the development of the city has occurred through lines of action that have been based on the needs of the capital after a detailed analysis of the municipality and its surroundings, from a perspective comprehensive, looking for sustainable and global urban projects and improvements that facilitate the city project that we want for Granada and that helps us apply the regulations set by Europe."

For all this, Carazo has stated that “we are going to go out and win these, for which we have the best candidate, Carmen Crespo, and we are going to tell Pedro Sánchez that from Granada, Andalusia and Spain we want a change in the Executive, to put an end to Sánchez's excesses towards our territory, especially in terms of infrastructure and railway connections."
