Antonio Repullo in an act of gender-based violence in Granada

The secretary general of the PP of Andalusia, Antonio Repullo, has appealed this Friday from Granada to celebrate the upcoming 25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, knowing that it is a day for memory, for respect and for unity, because "machista violence must be fought from every home, from every school, from every municipality, from every institution in Andalusia.

Speaking at the event organised by the PP in Granada, together with the provincial president of the party, Francis Rodríguez, the regional coordinator of Fomento, Rocío Díaz, and the mayor of the capital, Marifrán Carazo, the general secretary of the Andalusian Popular Party stated that “we can all be part of the change in the face of violence against women. That neighbour, friend or colleague who listens, accompanies and helps can be the start of a new life for those who suffer violence, because no one, no woman, should face this reality alone.”

“In this land we know well what it means to be close to those we care about,” she said, “how important affection is, and that is why this message is even more powerful.” Thus, in reference to the campaign of the Andalusian government of Juanma Moreno “Vidas que cambie vidas” she said that it is “an invitation to look around us, to break the silence, to reach out, and to be brave.” “We must act responsibly, from the heart, we must all build a society where women can live safe, free and with one certainty: you are not alone,” she stressed.

In this regard, Antonio Repullo has argued that “the Popular Party works, government by government, institution by institution, in favour of equality and against sexism. And it does so without proclamations, without lessons and with humility.” “In the PP we do not accept double morality, nor exemplary behaviour in the street and another full of darkness in private life,” he said, adding that “the PP is a mature, moderate party and a tireless defender of women’s rights.”

“We do it with conviction, with respect and listening to the citizens,” she continued, “as Marifrán does here in Granada, Francis in each municipality and the rest of our colleagues in their field.” Allocating resources in our budgets. Putting our institutions at the service of this fight against violence, against sexism, against aggression, against discrimination. “And we do it without excuses. With conviction. Firm and united,” she stressed.

A deep and collective struggle

Thanks to this commitment, Repullo said that “we are much closer, but we are not yet, not even close, to the society we long for. It is a long journey that women are taking towards equality. A path that is costing too many lives. A path where women have often encountered fear, loneliness and violence.”

“That is why we are here today,” she said. “Because every step is important, because this goes far beyond an intimate demand, this must be a demand, a deep and collective struggle. Eminently public.” And the institutions must be responsible and proactive and never settle, she proclaimed after warning that “not one hundred, not one. Every woman matters to us.”

For Repullo, this is not only about looking after our environment, “of course, but also for all Andalusian women”. And that is why the secretary general of the PP of Andalusia assures that he is speaking today “for equality and against terror. For Andalusian women. Against machismo and its violence. For their freedom. For Andalusia”.

For all these reasons, Antonio Repullo has stressed that “from the Popular Party of Andalusia we reject any form of violence against women and we make public our commitment to the victims, as well as the duty to support them and prioritize attention to their demands, so that they can rebuild their lives.”

“We have a responsibility and it is the eradication of violence against women and any sexist or uncivil attitude that undermines or disregards women's rights,” she continued, warning that “violence is a terrible tool that prevents women from freely expressing their attitudes in the workplace, or enjoying their leisure time in the streets, or living in peace, deciding what to do and how to do it without any restrictions or obstacles.”

Repullo concluded by stating that “we want a public space free of sexism” while demanding that “we choose equality, fight sexism, eliminate gender violence from our coexistence.” “Andalusian women want to live free, they want to feel fulfilled. Without fear, without nuances and with hope,” she concluded.
