What is the People's Party
PP history
The Popular Party (PP) is a conservative and liberal political party in Spain. Founded in 1989 as a successor to Alianza Popular (AP), a party created in 1976 by Manuel Fraga Iribarne and other prominent conservative politicians. AP's objective was to unite the center-right political forces in the nascent Spanish democracy.
In 1989, under the leadership of José María Aznar, AP was refounded as the Popular Party, with a more centrist and liberal platform, focusing on economic and social issues. The PP achieved its first electoral success in 1996, when Aznar became Prime Minister of Spain, and has been a significant political force in the country ever since, alternating in power with the center-left PSOE.
The PP of Andalusia
The Popular Party of Andalusia achieved what could be the greatest success in the political history of democracy in Spain in elections, winning the regional elections in June 2019 by an absolute majority of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. An achievement in which Juanma's leadership had a lot to do Moreno Bonilla and policy of prioritizing the interests of Andalusia. In this way, an absolute end was put to the hegemony that the left had had in one way or another at the regional level in what was a socialist stronghold that seemed impregnable.
