People's Party of Andalusia

Sánchez forces Andalusians to pay the most expensive toll per kilometer in Spain, denying them a decent railway system

The Andalusian PP is calling for the suspension or reduction of the toll, until the train is established as an alternative public transport, something that the law does allow and that the Government denies to Andalusia.

The Popular Party of Andalusia denounces the decision of the Sánchez Government, a few days ago, to reject the temporary suspension of tolls on the AP-7 Mediterranean Highway as it passes through the Costa del Sol. Another grievance along with the coastal train that forces Malaga residents and visitors to use the most expensive toll per kilometer in Spain per kilometer. While in other communities the socialist Government has taken measures to eliminate or reduce tolls, in Andalusia we continue to pay exorbitant prices for the use of our highways. A fact that directly affects the mobility and economy of the entire province.

It is unfair and discriminatory that Malaga has one of the most expensive highways per kilometer in Spain, while in other areas tolls are being eliminated to promote economic and tourist development. This situation places Andalusia in a clear disadvantaged position in terms of competitiveness and infrastructure development..

It costs almost 19 euros to travel by car from Algeciras on this high-capacity route in high season, plus another 21 euros in gasoline. A high price for workers, students and residents of the province of Malaga.

The Government argues that the conditions established by law to suspend the AP-7 concession are not met, but The PP of Andalusia does not ask for the suspension of the concession, but for the suspension or reduction of the toll. This measure would apply until the train is articulated as alternative public transport, something that the law does allow and that the Sánchez Government denies to Andalusia.

Furthermore, The Highway Law of 2015 contemplates the possibility of diverting traffic to a toll highway under a concession regime. Said license, as established by this law, would be applicable due to technical conditions, road safety or for the proper exploitation of the State's highways. However, The Government continues without taking measures in this regard to alleviate the collapse of the A-7 on the Costa del Sol.

The PP of Andalusia, led by Juanma Moreno, demands that the Sánchez Government stop marginalizing AndalusiaThe Andalusians do not deserve even the lack of interest that the Socialist Party has for our land to prosper, nor having to pay the most expensive toll in Spain, nor continuing without the railway infrastructure they need.
