- Andalusia allows universities to modernize their degrees to increase job opportunities for graduates
The university and the labor market are today in Andalusia a tandem that promotes the popular government of Juanma Moreno thinking of the future of young people. For this reason, work is being done to continue creating new degrees in line with employment demands.
In Andalucia, Since 2010, universities had not been able to request the implementation of new university degrees. Since 2014, the programming was blocked and without the possibility of modifying the degree map according to the new emerging sectors.
For this reason, the Junta de Andalucía promoted the approval in June 2023 of the Teaching Regulation Decree. Thanks to this, universities can modify their degrees every four years and increase job opportunities for graduates.
Flexibility for university
The management of the PP Government of Andalusia has made it possible to provide flexibility to the community's universities. Faced with a static degree map, you can now modify and incorporate titles every four years. Dual degrees, joint, international and inter-university degrees are also encouraged.
As a result of this context, Andalusia has opted for new academic programming focused on health, energy and the environment, among other matters. The University Department has prepared an initial proposal that includes 103 new degrees from public universities of the entire community.
Topics include computer security, artificial intelligence, big data and robotization. Also sustainability, renewable energies or, in health, the connection of health branches with technology.
Key to employment
The continuous updating allows configuring an educational offer according to the Andalusian labor market. This dynamic is also reproduced in the preparation of the Vocational Training or Dual Vocational Training in Andalusia. To this end, permanent communication is also maintained with the business sector with the aim of knowing what training profiles they are looking for when hiring personnel.
The management of the popular government of Juanma Moreno It is already bearing fruit in terms of employment among young people. Andalusia has reduced the unemployment rate among those under 6 years of age by 25 points to 39%. In 2018, the last year of socialist management, the rate was 46%.
